Doris J. Kasel, age 95, of Hastings passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024 with her family by her side.
Doris was born on June 21, 1928 to Richard and Olga (Steve) Albrecht on the family farm in Cottonwood County, MN. She attended Red Rock Country School and Comfrey Junior and Senior High School and graduated on June 5, 1945. Doris then attended specialized teacher courses in New Ulm, MN and went on to teach in District #105. She married Frank Kasel at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on September 1, 1947 and they were blessed with eight children.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; sons, Paul, John, Frank and Mark; parents; and by her siblings, Anna Millard, Emma Albrecht, Helen Fisk, Petre Albrecht, Walter Albrecht and Robert Albrecht.
Doris is survived by her children, Mike, Patrick (Mary), Thomas (Lanette), Mary (Jeff) Olson; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Kasel, Patrick Kasel, Nicole Kasel (Aaron), Adam (Tanya) Kasel, Eric Kasel, Miranda Olson, Jacob Olson; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Kasel, Henry Kasel, Calvin Krauth, Reese Krauth; and by two great-great-grandchildren, Daxton and Kyson Kasel.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 106 Main Street, Vermillion with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, Hastings.
