ISD 200 Staff Spotlight- Serina Stokke

Posted

From a young age, Serina Stokke discovered a deep passion for working with individuals with disabilities, a passion that has only grown stronger over the years. This year marks Ms. Stokke’s second year as a teacher in Hastings, and she couldn’t be more thrilled. “I can’t imagine doing anything else,” she declares with enthusiasm.
Ms. Stokke is driven by a mission to create an environment where every student feels included, accepted, and valued for who they are. “I thrive on discovering innovative ways to help students learn through unconventional methods,” she explains. “The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing those ‘lightbulb’ moments and the joy on students' faces when they achieve something they've worked so hard for.”
Her dedication extends beyond the classroom, positively impacting both her students and the community. “Even though my students may not be in the same classrooms as their peers, the work they do in mine is incredibly meaningful. Each student has a unique purpose and deserves to be an integral part of their community. We focus on building lifelong learners and teaching essential life skills to ensure they feel included and valued,” she adds.
Ms. Stokke also appreciates the camaraderie among her fellow educators. “Despite the challenges and stress of our jobs, my colleagues offer invaluable support, share laughs, and truly understand the demands we face,” she notes. “Like many schools, we are navigating a nationwide staffing shortage that affects our program significantly. I dream of a future where we are fully staffed with dedicated, high-quality support.”
After searching for a position within ISD200 for several years, Serina is thrilled to have found her place. With her family rooted in the community and her own children attending district schools, she feels a deep connection to Hastings. “We adore this community, and working close to home is a true blessing. Hastings boasts fantastic schools, exceptional staff, and a welcoming, supportive environment,” Ms. Stokke says.
When she’s not inspiring her students, you might find Serina enjoying the great outdoors or cheering on her favorite teams. A passionate Minnesota Vikings and Gophers Football fan, she enthusiastically exclaims, “SKOL!”
