The trap team ended its season in fifth place of seven teams with 65,551.50 points following Owatonna 1st 82,522.50, Rosemount 2nd 71,742.00, Northfield 3rd 70,403.00 and Nicollet 4th 68,103.50. For conference Top 25, congratulations to senior captain Tanner Lamb who finished his high school trap career in fourth place with a 23.50 average, senior captain Brody Anderson in eighth place with a 23.30 average and senior captain Tristan Asher in 18th place with a 22.90 average. For conference Top 25 Females, congratulations to senior captain Kaitlyn Schutz who finished her high school trap in 19th place with a 21.40 average and to Junior Amelia Miller who finished the season in 15th place with a 20.30 average.
The skeet team ended its season in fourth place of seven teams with 1,606.50 points following Wayzata 1st 2,781.50, Prior Lake 2nd 2,713.00 and New Prague 3rd 1,944.50. For Conference Top 10 Female, congratulations to senior captain Kaitlyn Schutz who finished her high school skeet shooting in 8th place for Conference Top 10 Female with an 18.60 average.

Now that conference competition is over, the team had its fun week, which was also state practice week one. Volunteers grilled for the team and spectators and many of the kids had a chance to shoot against their coaches, to include some Annie Oakleys which is sort of like a last man standing line-up and very fun to watch. Hands down that was the best part of the day. Thank you to long-time coach Elden Baalson for keeping his tradition of making clay targets with a colored powder blast. They are sporadically placed among all the targets during state practice week one and two. If a student shoots a colored target, depending on the color, they may immediately win a prize or will be entered into a drawing for several Dairy Queen gift cards. The kids really look forward to this every year and I think the coaches have a pretty good time too!

Congratulations to the following athletes who shot a straight during final competition week five: Trent Westberg, Tanner Lamb (X2), Isaac Nauer, Jackson Slattery and Blaise Lamb 25 straight trap and Brody Anderson and Isaac Nauer 25 straight skeet and to Logan Becker and Aaron Schweich for shooting a straight 25 at fun week/state practice one.

The Raiders have 84 competing at the state trap championship in Alexandria June 18 and 19 competing at the state skeet championship June 27 in Prior Lake. The great thing about state is all students are eligible to participate. It is set up so they shoot in one of three divisions based on their season overall average. The National Trap Championship registration is closed, and we are pleased to announce our 2024 National Team as follows: Brody Anderson, Reed Anderson, Tristan Asher, Blaise Lamb, Tanner Lamb, Isaac Nauer and Jackson Slattery. They will all compete as individuals and five will also compete for the team competition. Tristan, Brody, Tanner and Isaac are all seniors so this will be their last high school competition. Nationals are held in Mason, Michigan July 10-14 at a facility with 44 trap fields. It’s a great experience for coaches, students and their families meeting and competing against teams from all over the country and I am proud to say that most years we end up receiving compliments from other state coaches, not only about how our kids present themselves but for example how they step up to clean up empty shells for not just our team, but also for others to help keep things moving.
Congratulations to our 17 graduating seniors! It has been a pleasure having you on our teams. Our many trap and skeet team families, coaches and volunteers wish you a bright and adventurous future, and we hope to see some of you return as a team volunteer.
