Soccer: Girls move to 5-1, Boys 3-2

The Raider Soccer Teams have a lot in common, fun to watch and filled with talented young student-athletes. Both teams are playing tough games with the boys two losses both being by one goal. Last week, the boys played Burnsville stunning the Blaze 6-2 and Apple Valley, losing 2-1. The Girls dominated Burnsville 11-0 and carried the shutout to Apple Valley, winning there, 4-0.
The Girls
Against Burnsville, Hastings outshot the Blaze 21-0. Siena Sanchez led Hastings with three goals, one unassisted. Keagan McVicker and Jersey Appert each had two goals, one unassisted, Erica Endres scored two unassisted, Abby Kishish and Olivia Levine each logged one goal. There were a plethora of assists as well, Lyla Mahoney, Olyvia Erickson, Ellie Magnus, Olivia Levine and Elli Levine each logged one assists.
The Boys
Against Burnsville, the boys had a very efficient outing, scoring on six of their 11 shots on goal. The Shots were more balanced for the boys than the girls with Hastings outshooting the Blaze 11-10. Danny Shashkov and Ethan Schaak each had a goal with Schaak’s coming on a penalty kick. Parker Geib and Johan Rova-Hegener each scored two goals with one JRH’s being a PK. Schaack also picked up an assist. Johnathan Braucks kept 80 percent of the shots he faced out of the net to give the Raiders the win.
Both teams have games coming up against North St. Paul on Sept. 11 with the girls playing at 5 p.m. and the boys following around 7. The boys will travel solo to Harding on Sept. 13 for a 6:30 p.m. start and both play on Sept. 14 at 1:00 p.m. The boys at Forest Lake and the girls at home against Minnetonka.
The busy schedule continues with both teams travelling to Mahtomedi on Sept. 17, with the boys taking the early game at 5 p.m. and the girls taking the late shift around 7 p.m. Sept. 19, they flip back at Tartan, girls at 5 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m.
