To the editor:
I want to go on record as endorsing Angie Craig as Representative for Minnesota’s Second Congressional District. I am a semi-retired farmer. My family has been working this same plot of ground since 1888. And I want to tell you what Angie has been doing for farmers. She is on the House Agriculture Committee, and has written a bill to allow for year round sales of E-15 fuel, and is one of the biggest boosters of Ag. based ethanol in congress. She voted for a bill that brought rural broadband to the 2nd district, the fiber optic company put in the new cable to my house this last summer. She voted for additional funding for a voluntary conservation plan that I got to use. I have been able to try cover crops for the last three years. On my land, I am convinced that cover crops, during the last drought years allowed us bring in crops. And is improving my soil and it’s ability to hold moisture. As of last week we have NO farm bill. What does that mean for farmers? The bill, which has stalled out in Congress, provides for essential crop insurance, helps ensure a secure food supply, and so much more I don’t have room for it here. Angie fought very hard for passage of the bill, which is why I think that she received the endorsement of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation, who usually endorse republicans. It’s because Angie is doing the job.
