Bruce Pettit

Bruce K. Pettit, age 67 of West St. Paul and formerly of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024.

Bruce was one of six children, born to Wally and Penny (Penrod) Pettit. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1975 and during his high school years, he worked at Hastings Lumber Mart, Spiral Pizza, and Polka Dot Dairy. Eventually, he ended up full time at Polka Dot Dairy delivering milk.

In 1987, he married Lori Underdahl, and they had a daughter, Jamie in 1988. In 2003, Bruce and Lori moved to Iowa where he went to work for Rembrandt Foods and the Branding Iron Supper Club until his retirement. Bruce and Lori then moved back to Minnesota in 2022 to be closer to their daughter.

Bruce was an avid reader of non-fiction and periodicals (especially the Wall Street Journal and maps). He loved to watch Jeopardy! Bruce enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, collecting baseball cards, and checking out muscle cars. He was especially proud of his 1969 Nova. In his younger days, he would sneak away to participate in drag races at Cedar Creek and Amber Green Raceways in Wisconsin and took home many trophies. He loved taking hunting trips to Montana, going to casinos, and visiting historic landmarks and greasy spoons while traveling the backroads to different states. He was a pioneer in taking selfies when traveling alone.

He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, David Wigness; father-in-law, Alfred Underdahl; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug (Lori) Underdahl; and brother-in-law, Dan Underdahl.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lori Pettit; daughter, Jamie Pettit; siblings, Brenda (Jack) Fahey, Dana Pettit (Donnie), Dawn (Dave) Wigness, Pat Pettit, Joe (Jessica) Pettit; nephews, Chad Fahey, Ryan Fahey, Jackson Pettit; nieces, Kelly Fahey, Danielle Lewicki, Desiree Barsness, Jolie Pettit; mother-in-law, Helen Underdahl; brother-in-law, John Underdahl; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julia (Jim) Wagner; and by his cats, Willy and Panda.

A Memorial Service was held 11 a.m. Wed, Oct. 9, 2024, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, Gordon Gathright officiated. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service with a reception immediately following the service. Interment was at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
