David A. Leak, age 72, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Sept. 26, 2024 in Apple Valley.

Dave was a proud 3M employee for over fifteen years. He worked hard to move up within the company from overseeing production to a financial analyst after earning his associates degree from Lakewood Community College.

Dave grew up in Port Washington, Wisconsin, which imprinted on him a love of the water, Lake Michigan, fishing, and lighthouses.

Dave enjoyed collecting. His first and most cherished collection was baseball cards followed closely by anything related to the Green Bay Packers. Over the years, Dave’s collections expanded to various antiques and artwork from winters spent in Arizona and California. At the heart of it all was his love to collect those things associated with precious memories, and the moments Dave cherished most were those of his family. He married the love of his life, Laura in 1992. They were married 32 years. Dave loved his daughters and was over-the-moon for his granddaughters. Dave’s laugh, love for teasing, and spirit for fun and adventure created beautiful memories that are blessings to those who dearly loved him.

Dave is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Ryan) Schmisek, Andrea (Eric) Overgaard; grandchildren, Lily Schmisek, Kaelyn and Maryn Overgaard; brothers, Jeff (Carla) Leak, Dennis Leak; nephews, Andre Leak, Robert and Jamie Leak; other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Leak; and by his parents, Fred and Betty Leak.
