Richard Duane Greene, 86, of Hastings, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home.

Richard was born in Rochester, MN to William and Francis on July 1, 1938. He went to high school at Dodge Center High School and graduated in 1956. He went on to continue his education in the banking industry at the University of Minnesota and Madison, Wisconsin. He enjoyed working for many years at Norwest Bank, totally 38 years in the banking industry. Richard also worked for Treasure Island and Vermillion Bank.

Richard served in the Unites States Army from September of 1961 to September of 1963 and then served in the Reserves, for a total of 6 years in the service. He was very proud of serving during the Cuban Crisis of 1962.

His hobbies included tinkering in the garage, being able to fix almost anything, gardening, fishing and cabin life, long walks on the Florida beaches, and frequent gatherings with Army friends in Branson, MO. He enjoyed his children and taking them on long vacations throughout the country.

During retirement, Richard and his wife enjoyed their snowbird years in LaBelle, Florida. He loved cruising in his golf cart around Aqua Isle/Moss Landing and happy hour at the river.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father; half brother Charles “Tony” Bleifus; and half-sister, Brenda Grabau.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Marian; children, Michelle (Jerry Camp) Greenwood, Michael (Danielle Beil) Greene; grandchildren, Thomas Greenwood, Savannah Schwan; great grandchild, Rylee Schwan; half-sister, Sharon Wellik; half-brother, Steve Bleifus; half-in-laws, Betty Bleifus, Al Grabau.

A visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 from 9- 11 a.m. at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings, MN, with a funeral service at 11 a.m.

Burial will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Legion Post 47 and the American Cancer Society.
